A RECENT day-trip to Sherkin Island by Southern Star reporter Jackie Keogh proved memorable.
It began with an encounter with a trans-Atlantic record-breaking rower, a visit to a former hotel that 54 Ukrainians now call home, a sumptuous steak sandwich at Sherkin's newest eatery, and a visit to the Alk, West Cork's answer to Jacques Cousteau's Calypso.
