BANTRY’S brilliant basketball season has reached a new height after they completed a terrific treble.
Their phenomenal form has seen the Bantry men win the Division 2 Top Four competition, as well as the league and championship.
Bantry men’s Division 2 team completed their trophy haul with a 64-57 win against Ballincollig to clinch the Top Four trophy.
Down 13 points midway through the third quarter in the last game of a 38-game season, Bantry refused to throw in the towel. They battled back and won by seven points. Excellent scores from Stephen Coughlan, Brian Cummins and Ciarán Darcy, along with a spectacular lay-up from Shane O’Neill, put the game beyond doubt.
Coach Craig Drummond said: ‘These group of lads just don’t know when they’re beaten. They have been fantastic all season and it’s great to finish on such a high.
‘We are extremely proud of what we have accomplished as a group and we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone in Bantry Basketball Club who have helped us achieve our goals this season. Division one basketball will be a challenge next season but we will be ready for it.’
