Former Bunratty United starlet is moving in the right direction
RISING Schull soccer star Ronan Hurley has signed his first professional contract with Cork City FC.
The talented full back, who learned his trade in the West Cork Schoolboys League with Bunratty United, made his league debut away to Shamrock Rovers last month as he finished the season well.
‘Ever since I joined Cork City U17s, my aim was to step up and make the breakthrough into the first team, so I am delighted to do that. Hopefully, this is just the start and I can push on from here,’ Hurley said.
‘My main target next season is to play as many games as I can. Playing games is the best way to learn and you learn from your mistakes as well, so I want to improve my game, learn more in training every day and get as much game time as possible.’
Cork City boss John Caulfield added: ‘I think our supporters have seen Ronan play in three league matches towards the end of the season, and he did very well. He was the captain of our U19 side and we see huge potential in him for the future.’
