Skibb athlete produces fantastic finish to medal

DENISE Walsh produced a terrific finish to win a silver medal at the European Rowing Championships in Racice, Czech Republic this Sunday morning.
The Skibbereen Rowing Club star (24) battled back from fifth place at the halfway mark and fourth place with 500 metres to go, to force her way into the silver medal position in the lightweight single sculls, powering past Switzerland’s Patricia Merz to take second place.
Denise finished in 7:38.000, just behind the winner from Sweden, Emma Fredh, 7:36.240.
It’s Denise’s first medal at a Europeans having finished fourth last year.
