IT’S a repeat of last year as Ballinhassig take on Shamrocks in Saturday evening’s Five Mile Inn Restaurant Carrigdhoun JAFC final in Belgooly (throw-in 5.30pm).
Having won their first title in this grade in 2012, Ballinhassig followed that up in 2015 with a two-point victory against their Shanbally opponents, 1-11 to 1-9 the final score as Diarmuid O’Sullivan scored five points with Fintan O’Leary kicking four for the victors.
In defending their crown, Hassig first saw off Courcey Rovers on a 2-12 to 1-6 scoreline and then overcame Valley Rovers’ second team in the semi-final by 2-9 to 0-9.
Shamrocks, seeking their first divisional championship since 1994, have also beaten Valleys, winning by 1-11 to 0-7 in the first round and then edging Ballymartle by 2-7 to 1-8 in the last four. Brian Sweeney and Roy Twomey are likely to be key players for them if the long wait is to be ended.
