Bandon AC sprinter will race semi-final on Friday evening
PHIL Healy has qualified for the semi-finals of the women’s 400m at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham.
She is the first Irish woman to qualify for a world indoors 400m semi-final.
The Bandon AC runner finished third in her heat this morning, in 52.75, and that was enough to see her progress to Friday evening’s semi-finals.
‘That’s the first-ever Irish woman to get into the world 400m semi-finals. I’m taking it round by round and I’m happy with the way I ran out there today,’ Phil said afterwards.
Phil will race in lane one in her semi-final this evening – at 8.46pm – with the first two to qualify for the world final.
