WEST Cork jockey Noel Fehily reached a significant milestone in his career by riding his one-thousandth winner at Warwick.
Noel, from Castletown Kenneigh, passed the post on 14/1 shot Lamanver Alchemy, trained by Tom Lacey, to join a select group of jockeys to have ridden 1,000 winners over jumps, becoming only the 19th in the British Isles to do so. The record is held by AP McCoy with an astounding 4,348 wins.
Twice winner of Celtic Ross West Cork Sports Star of the Month awards over the years, Noel – who turns 40 this year – and his family received many messages of congratulations from well-wishers on his notable achievement.
