Skibbereen pair claim gold in the Czech Republic this morning
BY KIERAN McCARTHY
SKIBBEREEN has new European rowing champions after Mark O’Donovan and Shane O’Driscoll powered to a terrific triumph in the men’s lightweight pair A final at the European Rowing Championships in Racice, Czech Republic this Sunday morning.
The Skibbereen men were absolutely dominant as they blew the field away in this European final, and they led all the way through from lane one.
Winning in a time of 6:32.340, they had seconds to spare over Russia in second and Italy in third place.
Mark (28) and Shane (24) already won gold at the opening World Cup I regatta in Belgrade earlier in the month.
