LIAM Coombes will join his cousin Gavin in the Greencore Munster Rugby Academy for the 2017/18 season.
Lisheen teenager Liam (back three/Garryowen), who played for Ireland against New Zealand in the recent U20 World Rugby Championships in Georgia, is one of 11 new recruits announced by Munster, moving up from the sub academy that he was involved in last season.
Liam’s first cousin Gavin (back row/Young Munster) has progressed to year two of the Munster Rugby Academy, along with Bantry man Fineen Wycherley; both Gavin and Fineen also played for Ireland at the U20 world championships.The Coombes’ cousins are a product of Skibbereen Rugby Club while Wycherley plied his trade in Bantry Bay RFC.
