After 19 years playing junior football with Kilmacabea, team captain Karl McCarthy (33) is looking forward to the club's first-ever South West JAFC final on September 13th against Bandon

Rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 on how funny you are? 7 but that may not be correct as I was wrong once before.

Highlight of your sporting career? Reaching this year’s Carbery JAFC final after 17 years of trying, and winning the intermediate men’s race at the 2012 All-Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships with the Galley Flash.

Most dialled number on your phone? I should say my wife, Carol, but most likely the team group chat on What’s App.

What’s your karaoke song? I do a very poor version of Christy Moore’s The Voyage.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself? I was held at gun-point in an armed robbery at 14 years of age. True story.

Best-ever holiday? Crete 2005. It was my one and only lads’ holiday. Enough said.

If you won the lotto what would you buy first? Diesel for the trip to Dublin to collect the cheque.

Separated at birth, who’s your celebrity twin double? Usain Bolt.

What’s your favourite word? Phrase rather than word: Good darts, boy.

If you could change any part of you what would it be? I could do with a new right ankle.

Your most treasured item of clothing? My ankle strapping.

Favourite cartoon? Family Guy.

If I was an animal then I would be a ... cheetah or gazelle – isn’t it obvious with my speed?

What question would you liked to have been asked in this interview? What’s your favourite food? There aren’t enough pages in this paper for that answer.
