Having played junior rugby for Bandon since 2004, second row Des Prendergast (29), a Garda in Gurranabraher in Cork City, is one of only three players remaining since Bandon last played in Munster Junior League Division 1 (2008/09)
Rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 on how funny you are? Not too funny. I’m about a 3, I’d say. I have been known to kill more jokes than I make.
Highlight of your sporting career? Getting to line out for the first time with Bandon Junior 1s, against Youghal, alongside my brother Pat in 2004.
Most dialled number on your phone? It’s probably my fiancée Mary. Or Daniel’s Chipper. They’re both on a par to be fair.
What’s your karaoke song? Seventh Heaven, from the TV show.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself? I’m kind of a big deal on the harmonica circuit.
Best-ever holiday? San Francisco last year. I got to see the SF Giants in the year they won the World Series.
If you won the lotto what would you buy first? I’d finish the bypass in Bandon, so the two Neville brothers would stop moaning about it.
Separated at birth, who’s your celebrity twin double? Kenny Powers – just an average guy with exceptional hair. Nothing more, and nothing less.
What’s your favourite word? Has to be ‘MOG’. It works on so many levels in Bandon, and I’ve been known to use it occasionally on the pitch.
If you could change any part of you what would it be? I’d like to have Richie Walsh’s biceps.
Your most treasured item of clothing? It’s a 1965 FA Cup jersey signed by the Liverpool team and a few legends since. Mary gave it to me as a present a few years back.
Favourite cartoon? Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, the early ones.
If I was an animal then I would be ... one of Timmy Crowley’s cows – over worked and under paid.
What question would you liked to have been asked in this interview? Do you squat?
