Gabriel Rangers won the South West U21 C football championship for the first-time ever on Sunday.
GABRIEL Rangers were crowned South West U21 C football champions for the first-time ever after a 1-10 to 0-7 win against St Mary’s in Sunday’s divisional final in Dunmanway.
An early Sasha Walden goal set Gabriels on their way as they dominated the first half for long stretches and led 1-7 to 0-2 at half time, with man-of-the-match Eoin O’Brien a key figure for the winners.
Credit St Mary’s for a brace second half comeback with points from Dylan Scannell, Finghín O’Driscoll, Rory O’Connor and Niall Kelleher, but Gabriels withstood all that the Saints could throw at them, despite the gap being down to 1-8 to 0-7 at the three-quarter-stage.
