The Cill na Martra boxer defeated well-fancied Sandy Ryan from England
Cill na Martra welterweight Christina Desmond is up and running at the AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships following a huge win in her opening bout.
That was super stuff from @Tina_Desmond she has a brilliant right hook and back hand, they worked so well for her. She will be hard to beat. I didn't agree with the refs warning either, trying to spoil a fight, let them at it REFEREEEEE ffs.

Desmond was handed a tough first round draw against England's Sandy Ryan, a Commonwealth Games Gold medallist, but she showed plenty of ability to progress to the Last 16.
The AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships are being held in Ulan Ude in Russia.
