Cork county residents are facing a higher property tax bill for next year after councillors voted by a majority to increase the basic rate of the Local Property Tax (LPT) by 5%.

The current owners are downsizing to a smaller property next door and the price is available on application.

A majority of those who are becoming homeless are from the private rented sector, Independent Deputy Michael Collins told the Dáil.
