WHEN Niamh Kirby from Timoleague uploaded a video of her singing ‘Ireland’s Call’ on YouTube last Friday, she had no idea that it would get over 180,000 views.
Speaking to The Southern Star, from her home in London the 19 year old said she couldn’t believe the reaction.
‘I normally post a cover song on my Facebook page each week and with the match and St Patrick’s Day coming up my boyfriend Michael suggested I should cover Ireland’s Call,’ explained Niamh.
As a keen rugby fan living in London, Niamh soaked up the atmosphere in Twickenham.
‘While I didn’t get to the match the atmosphere was brilliant despite the cold.’
Niamh, a music student, is no stranger to being an internet success. Another video of her signing with her friend Evan Murray got a great reaction last year.
Their cover of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Castle of the Hill’ saw them reach well over 100,00 views and they even got invited on The Ray D’Arcy Show on RTE on the back of their performance. See ‘Niamh Kirby Sings’ on Facebook to see her video.
