BRITISH documentary maker Louis Theroux, has once again urged his 1.9m Twitter followers to check out the West Cork podcast.
Best known for his Weird Weekend series and My Scientology Movie he tweeted: ‘Not going to keep tweeting about how good #WestCork podcast is. You either believe me or you don’t.’
This follow-up tweet comes a month after he first directed his followers to listen to the West Cork podcast. It follows Time magazine’s list of ‘50 best podcasts to listen to right now,’ which includes the podcast dramatisation of the Sophie Toscan du Plantier unsolved murder in Schull in 1996.
The Time recommendation lauded the ‘sense of place’ and depiction of how a ‘tragedy can impact a town and its people in devastating ways.’
The podcast hosts are also praised for the in-the-field reporting style.
The makers of the podcast, journalist Sam Bungey and documentary maker Jennifer Forde, will be attending this year’s West Cork Literary Festival. They will be giving a talk entitled ‘West Cork: The Making of a Podcast’ at the Maritime Hotel in Bantry.
The event will take place on July 20th at 8.30pm with an admission price of €20. Online booking for the event is now open on the West Cork Literary Festival website.
