It's time to find and dust off those stetsons, spurs and six-shooters as Skibbereen – or should that be ‘Dodge City' – prepares for a Wild West extravaganza.

IT’S time to find and dust off those stetsons, spurs and six-shooters as Skibbereen – or should that be ‘Dodge City’ – prepares for a Wild West extravaganza.

As part of the Skibbereen Arts Festival, the streets will resemble the good ol’ days of gunsmoke, rattlesnakes and tumble weed, with the townfolks celebrating all things country ‘n’ western.

From 7pm on Friday July 27th, Bridge Street in the town will be closed to traffic with music, street theatre, arts & crafts stalls, graffiti artists, food stalls – and gunfights, of course.

So don your Sunday bonnet, strap on your gun belt and relive your favourite western for one night only, on the mean streets of Skibbereen.

Music on the night will be provided by Two Time Polka and not to forget that John Leventhal with the one and only Rosanne Cash, daughter of legend Johnny Cash, is in concert at the Abbeystrewry Church on Sunday night, with Derry Moynihan in support.
