THE first ever tattoo convention hosted by the West Cork Hotel was so successful that it’s likely to return next year.
Ger Carroll, the hotel’s financial controller described the Wild Atlantic Tattoo Show as a great success – not just for the organisers, but for the hotel too.
‘After Paddy’s Day and the August Bank Holiday weekend, it ranked as the third busiest weekend at the hotel,’ according to Mr Carroll.
‘It also created a buzz around the town as there were hundreds of people in attendance at the three-day convention.’
It might have been an inaugural event, but it was so successful that early indications are that the convention will be returning in 2018.
‘It was a great event all round – they were a very organised, happy bunch of people to work with. It was trouble-free and ran smoothly from start to finish.’
One member of the West Cork Hotel team, Jessica Wagner, was so taken with proceedings that she decided to get a tattoo herself – a demure shamrock on her ankle.
The convention not only filled the West Cork Hotel, several other local establishments were also booked solid.
The convention involved tattoo competitions with prizes for different categories, as well as demonstrations.
