STEVE Redmond who is famous for being the first person in the world to successfully complete the epic Ocean’s Seven Challenge is taking on what could be his toughest challenge yet – a 36km swim from Baltimore Harbor to the iconic Fastnet Lighthouse and back.
Steve is swimming in aid of West Cork Underwater Search and Recovery (WCUSAR) unit, which was formed following the tragic sinking of the Tit Bonhomme in Union Hall in 2012, and now serves the people of West Cork 365 days of the year.
Ideally, at 4.30am or 5am on the morning of Tuesday, August 21st, Steve Redmond will embark on a swim that could take 14 hours or more to complete.
Lots of people have swum from Baltimore to the Fastnet, and plenty more have swum from the Fastnet to Baltimore, but no one has ever attempted to do both in a single swim.
