With Storm ‘Atiyah’ tracking towards Ireland this weekend, Met Eireann have issued a Status Orange marine warning for Cork and Kerry.

The Status Orange wind warning also covers Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, and Limerick.

Met Eireann says that Storm Atiyah will track between Iceland and Ireland on Sunday, generating a swathe of very strong winds across the country.

Southwest winds later veering northwesterly will reach mean speeds of 50 to 60 km/h with gusts of up to 100 km/h.

The warning is valid from 3pm on Sunday December 8th until 6am on Monday December 9th.

A Yellow wind warning has been issued for Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford.
