TWO Southern Star journalists have organised a Morning Glory 7.30am disco event in Skibbereen in September, in aid of a local suicide awareness charity.
A ‘MORNING Glory’ pre-work disco is being held at Uillinn, in Skibbereen, in September to support a local charity.
The hour-and-a-half boogie invites all lovers of 70s, 80s and 90s disco who want to ‘get down’ to come and boost their energy levels before heading to the office.
Morning Glory events are becoming a big hit right across the globe, with disco divas and dudes getting on down to their favourite tunes, as an alternative to sweaty gyms or muscle-busting yoga classes.
The Skibbereen event, which will take place as a one-off charity fundraiser, will be held on Thursday 24 September, from 7:30am-9am, at Uillinn West Cork Arts Centre’s new purpose-built dance studio.
The event is being held in aid of the Lisheens House Suicide and Self-Harm Prevention and Drop-In centre in Skibbereen.
Come in your disco gear, your office suit, or your casual everyday wear – just come, and boogie!
There will be professionally-trained dancers to get everyone in the mood, but this Morning Glory event is a real case of ‘dance like nobody’s watching’ – Uillinn gives you the dancefloor, the music, and the glitter ball – you bring the style!
The Morning Glory event is the brainchild of disco fanatics, Southern Star journalists Jackie Keogh and Siobhan Cronin, with the kind permission of the Uillinn West Cork Arts Centre, Justine Foster, with lights by Ronan McRoais and sound by Colm Rooney, with sound equipment kindly donated by Billy Flaherty.
There will be no entry charge to this early morning disco – but donations, of any size, to Lisheens, would be most welcome on the day.
