With energy costs set to increase, having an energy-efficient home has never been more important
THERE has never been a better time to go green and with the Pro Energy Homes Scheme at Skibbereen and Bandon Credit Union you can ensure that your home is ready for the future and will save you money on your energy costs.
The Pro Energy Homes Scheme, which is an initiative supported by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) in association with Retrofit Energy Ireland Ltd. (REIL), is designed to support Skibbereen and Bandon Credit Union members to tackle upgrades in their home which, could include attic insulation, cavity wall insulation, external wall insulation, solar thermal panels for hot water, heating system and controls upgrade and windows upgrades.
‘With energy costs set to increase, now is the time to ensure that your home is as efficient as possible and with the available, tailored, flexible loans from Skibbereen and Bandon Credit Union you can get a range of energy saving upgrades carried out with the support of the SEAI and REIL,’ Skibbereen and Bandon Credit Union Acting Manager Elma Casey said.
The Skibbereen and Bandon Credit Union Pro Energy Homes scheme is designed to ensure that you get expert advice from start to finish with a dedicated project manager from Retrofit Energy Ireland, a number of flexible loan options from Skibbereen and Bandon Credit Union and easier access to grants of up to 35% of the cost of the work from the SEAI.
‘These days making your home as energy efficient as possible will not only ensure that you have a warm house for the future, an energy efficient home will save you money and increase the value of your property,’ Elma said.
‘And remember, while you do have to be a member of Skibbereen and Bandon Credit Union, you don’t have to have a history of savings to be eligible to apply for a loan. Loan approval is all about your ability to repay. If you live or work in the Skibbereen or Bandon areas, can supply valid ID and proof of income then you can apply for a loan at the credit union.’
The first step in availing of the Skibbereen and Bandon Credit Union Pro Energy Homes scheme is to contact the credit union who will walk you through the application, then it’s a case of a representative from REIL visiting your home and accesses the work that you want to undertake.
‘With government grants available for insulation or for the addition of solar heating and power, there has never been a better time to make your home more environmentally friendly. If you decide on upgrading you home you will be assessed by REIL through a home energy survey. If you decide to proceed with the loan, an interest rate of 6.9% is applicable,’ Elma said.
