A CORK city company has acquired an arm of the Skibbereen-based technology firm Spearline.
Algo Group has acquired Spearline’s risk and compliance division, which was established in May 2018 in response to the introduction of GDPR regulations.
On Monday of this week, the team of six – involved in the risk and compliance business – relocated from the Spearline offices at North Street to the Ludgate digital hub in Townshend St Skibbereen.
Commenting on the merger with Algo, the company’s managing director, Ciara Byrne said: ‘We are delighted with the move. It is very exciting because it will allow us to develop to the next level. Altada is one of the leaders in privacy by design and it will allow us to provide enhanced solutions for our clients.’
Kevin Buckley, the chief executive of Spearline – which is a network intelligence company involved in conducting tests for the telecoms industry – explained the reason behind the sale to The Southern Star.
‘Our future focus is on our core business, which is testing, and that is in response to international customer demand,’ said Mr Buckley, who is the joint founder of the company that now has offices in Skibbereen, Waterford, Romania and India, and operates a 24/7 and 365-day support service for its customers.
Mr Buckley said Spearline Risk and Compliance had experienced considerable growth in a short period of time since it was established, and that he had ‘no doubt that the team will thrive in their new home.’
