‘THERE is nobody that hasn’t been touched by suicide and the fall-out from suicide. It could be your immediate family, an acquaintance, or a work colleague,’ said Renee O’Mahony, one of a committee of six people organising the first ever Darkness into Light event in Skibbereen.

‘THERE is nobody that hasn’t been touched by suicide and the fall-out from suicide. It could be your immediate family, an acquaintance, or a work colleague,’ said Renee O’Mahony, one of a committee of six people organising the first ever Darkness into Light event in Skibbereen.

With each passing year more and more towns and villages are participating in the nationwide event and, like all the others, the 5k walk in Skibbereen will start at 4.25am on Saturday, May 6th.

Everyone who has registered online with Pieta House will meet at the starting point at the O’Donovan Rossa GAA Pavilion.

The registration fee is €25 – all of which goes to Pieta House, an organisation that provides a support system for people who are affected by suicide in anyway. The final stage of the walk through The Cutting will be candlelit.
