IT will be a homecoming of sorts for Sing Street actor Mark McKenna (pictured, right, with actor Ferdia Walsh Peelo), when he comes to Schull for the screening of the hit Irish film on Saturday May 28th as part of the Fastnet Film Festival, writes Kieran O’Mahony. Mark, who played the role of music mad Eamon in John Carney’s film, is no stranger to Schull, as he has spent many a summer holidaying in the West Cork coastal village – his grandmother was born in Lowertown. Mark’s fellow co-star Ferdia Walsh Peelo and director of Sing Street John Carney will join him for the screening of the film followed by interviews after. Sing Street has resonated with music fans everywhere since it was released earlier this year and the 80s-based film combines warmth and humour with a punk rock edge. The screening of Sing Street takes place in ‘The Palace’ at the Harbour View Hotel at 1.30pm. Tickets are €5 which includes a post-screening talk with John Carney, which will be moderated by John Kelleher. See www.fastnetfilmfestival.com for more information.
