THE new Schull pontoon is set to be opened in time for the Schull Regatta which takes place on August 11th & 12th.
The €500,000 pontoon, which took a month to install, was fabricated and provided by Inland & Coastal Marina Systems, and arrived on seven trucks in early July.
It is due to be opened to the public this weekend, in time for the Regatta the following weekend.
There will be plenty of activities for all of the family across the Regatta weekend, including the greasy pole, raft race and a fireworks display on Saturday 11th.
On Sunday 12th, activities will commence at 11.30am with the traditional blessing of the boats and laying of the wreaths, followed by a fun fancy dress for all of the family.
There will be entertainment for kids across the two days of the festival with Cré Pottery and Aaron the Balloon man, bouncy castles and swing boats.
Bog the Donkey will close the festival with music on the street on Sunday night.
August 12th is also the Schull Coastal Rowing Regatta which kicks off at 12 midday.
