Southern Star January 10 2015
SIR – The so-called Reform
Alliance is now being sold to
the public as a new concept
and given all the glare of the
Dublin media.
This party is again proposing
the old format of centralised
politics and this is why
the Dublin media is highlighting
its development; it
is initiated in and concentrated
on Dublin. If this concept
was adopted down the
country it wouldn’t merit a
spec on the news, but when it
will be run from Dublin, then
all is okay.
I appeal to all the people
in the regions to reject this
old idea and seek the real
change of provincial assemblies,
whereby the provinces
would have autonomy over
their respective affairs and
remove the centralised party
politics from Ireland. The
new change must be to have
an inclusive Ireland where
equality is practised and
the vehicle for this concept
is having TV stations in the
provinces with all-Ireland
coverage.
This would ensure equality
within Ireland and remove
the one-sided broadcasting
system, which we have at
present, being used to promote
Dublin. The regional
TDs
must become awake to
their own local interests and
unite within their respective
province for the collective
development of Ireland.
Yours,
Liam Ó Conaire,
Bruff,
Co Limerick.
