A READER has contacted The Southern Star to complain about the poor state of the signs around the county.
They are, he said, being neglected to such an extent that many are now so dirty they are unreadable.
‘I cannot fathom why someone cannot be despatched by Cork County Council with a bucket and cloth or even a brush, to give these signs a good clean. I certainly hope our tourists, of which there are many still around, do not see it as a reflection on Cork people. I would get out and clean them myself only I would probably be told there is a health and safety issue,’ he added.
