THE West Cork paradox of famine to feast and survival to innovation will be discussed at this month’s A Taste of West Cork Food Festival.
It’s the title of a forum which Phil Hogan, European Commissioner for Agriculture & Rural Affairs will address at 1pm on Saturday September 8th.
The idea behind the event is to look at ways in which the region can enhance its varied options, whether they emanate from food producers, tourism, IT or initiatives created by harnessing the myriad of available resources.
Speakers at the free forum, which will be held at Baltimore Sailing Club from 1pm also include Prof John O’Halloran of UCC, businessman Sean O’Driscoll, Helen Collins (A Taste of West Cork), Eamonn Sinnott (Intel Ireland), Tara McCarthy (Bord Bia), JP McMahon (Aniar, Galway), and the event is chaired by Eoin McGonigal, former chairman of the Irish Museum of Modern Art.
The Taste of West Cork Food Festival runs from September 7th-16th. See www.atasteofwestcork.com.
