Junior Minister Jim Daly has denied sending a letter, purporting to be from him, about a stag party in Rosscarbery
JUNIOR Minister Jim Daly has denied sending a letter, purporting to be from him, about a stag party in Rosscarbery.
The letter, which is on the Fine Gael TD’s headed paper, invites the recipient to meet in a pub in the village on an unspecified Saturday morning, ‘at 11.30am sharp’.
It is believed the letter was sent to about 90 people, but the junior health minister says he knows nothing about it, and it was most certainly not sanctioned by his office.
On closer inspection, the letter appears to have been photocopied and attached to a letterhead from Minister Daly’s office, with his signature also attached, at the bottom.
The writer says: ‘I am writing this letter on behalf of my representatives, to formally invite you to Jonathan’s stag party, who’s inventory at this time is unclear (sic), but it will be starting at 11.30am sharp in O’Brien’s bar, Rosscarbery.’
The letter, which is riddled with mis-spellings, continues: ‘Bring a (sic) overnight bag with you, with warm clothes as we have secured budjet (sic) accomadation (sic). Hopefully you will recieve (sic) this letter in time, as we know unpunctuality (sic) often offends.’
Minister Daly said he had ‘absolutely no knowledge’ of the letter before it was brought to his attention by a constituent.
