A 24-year-old single man appeared at a special sitting of Bandon District Court this morning in connection with robbery and assault of a young female on Castle Road on December 1st as well as a charge of criminal damage.

Daniel Szymcsyk appeared in court with the aid of an interpreter and Det Gda Peter Nolan gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution of the accused.  The court heard he was arrested at his home early yesterday morning in connection with charges of assault causing harm, robbery and criminal damage at various locations in Bandon on December 1st.

Gardaí objected to bail due to the seriousness of the charges and Judge James McNulty refused bail and remanded the accused to appear again at Bandon District Court on Thursday December 19th.

Judge McNulty directed that the name of the injured party not be published or the accused's address.
