A 66-year old man appeared at a special sitting of Bandon District Court charged with the murder of Derry Coakley earlier this week
A 66-year old man from Macroom was charged with murder at a special sitting of Bandon District Court this afternoon.
The accused, Gerard Lynch of Curraheen, Raleigh North, Macroom, was charged with the murder of Derry Coakley at Curraheen on the night of October 23 and October 24 last.
The accused, who was legally represented by Emmet Boyle (BL), instructed by Mr Frank Buttimer, solicitor, replied ‘no comment’ when the charge of murder was put to him by Detective Sergeant Derek Mulcahy.
Inspector Brian Murphy, for the prosecution, asked Judge James McNulty at the court, which was specially convened for 3pm at Bandon, to remand the accused in custody until the next scheduled sitting of Bandon District Court on Friday, November 2nd next.
