SIR – Better I be called naive by Áine Ní Chonnail in the truth of personal experiences regarding immigrants, which are mine, than to be accused of being a xenophobic pseudo-statistician, which Áine has been since the country was opened up a bit to the outside world, not to mind Europe.
Get over yourself’ the country has moved on since the Peig Sayers’ view of how Ireland ought to be.
And many people coming here from overseas have suffered terribly. I have met them and I feel certain Ms Ní Chonaill could not bear to walk in the same street as those children of a lesser god, without even knowing them or their story.
To people like her, ‘they be dragons.’
