The HSE has offered a general medical service scheme contract for the doctor's surgery at Cork Rd in Skibbereen.
The HSE has confirmed that it is currently awaiting confirmation of acceptance of the offer to the successful application.
In the meantime, the practice, which was formerly run by Dr Pat Bailey, is being operated by locums every day except Sunday, from 1pm to 5pm.
Dr Bailey withdrew from the provision of service at The Medical Centre at Cork Road on May 19th last, after his relocation to Canada, but the HSE maintained the service by recruiting two GPs on a locum basis since May 20th last, and enlisting the ongoing support of the practice nurse, practice manager and administrative staff.
