Skibbereen tech company, Spearline, has been listed in the top 20 fastest growing tech companies in Ireland for the fourth consecutive year.

SKIBBEREEN tech company, Spearline, has been listed in the top 20 fastest growing tech companies in Ireland for the fourth consecutive year.

Founded in 2003 by university friends Kevin Buckley and Matthew Lawlor, Spearline has become a global leader in toll and toll-free number testing.

In the early days, the company had a pay roll of three, but it now has a 50-strong workforce, and has successfully acquired the old St Fachtna’s De La Salle School in Skibbereen, which is to be its new base of operations as soon as renovations are compete.

Kevin said the company’s successful transition from its very humble beginnings to an 11,000 sq ft building will continue to be built upon having a good and committed workforce.

‘Over the last three years,’ he said, ‘Spearline has tripled its workforce and is aiming to continue this growth into the future.

‘We have invested heavily into the training and development of our staff, which includes the introduction of an accelerator programme for top performers.

‘We have also invested in a health and well-being programme, which makes Spearline a unique and fun place to work.’

As well as being listed in the top 20 Deloitte Technology Fast Fifty Awards, Spearline has been shortlisted for the Software Industry Awards.

Matthew Lawlor, Spearline co-founder, said: ‘It is an honour to have been listed for the fourth year in a row – it is a reflection on the company’s commitment to innovation.’

The company has opened offices in Kilkenny, Romania and India to facilitate its growing client base.

At a previous National Digital Week presentation, Kevin Buckley addressed the diaspora saying: ‘Send in your CVs.’

He pointed out that there are 700 students doing the Leaving Certificate in the greater West Cork area every year and companies like Spearline ‘want to give them something to stay for.’
