A DUTCH film crew was in West Cork last week, as part of a TV documentary on the Irish famine.
The crew visited a number of locations including Skibbereen Heritage Centre, Lough Hyne, Kilmurry museum, Béal na Bláth, Rosie’s bar in Ballydehob, Clonakilty and Inchydoney.
‘They are making a TV documentary on emigration and the famine,’ explained Terri Kearney, local historian and manager of Skibbereen Heritage Centre. ‘They want to see why over the years so many people left such a beautiful country.’
She added that their story will be a positive one, however, with interviews with young people in West Cork, happy to make the area their home and build a good future here.
