Cork County Council's Severe Weather Assessment Team convened a number of times today in line with weather forecasts for the weekend ahead and have issued a statement.
Our road crews will be on standby tonight and throughout the weekend, providing sandbags and flood defences in readiness for a possible flood event. Heavy duty pumping equipment has been deployed in West Cork towns.
Please exercise caution near overflowing rivers and be aware of standing/moving water on roads. Avoid drive through floodwater, especially when flowing.
