A German lady had to be airlifted to hospital from near Gougane Barra this afternoon after sustaining an ankle injury while hiking near the scenic Mid Cork tourist spot.
A German lady had to be airlifted to hospital from near Gougane Barra this afternoon after sustaining an ankle injury while hiking near the scenic Mid Cork tourist spot.
The woman (61) is believed to have broken her ankle and was attended to at the scene by members of the Kerry Mountain Rescue Unit, who sought the assistance of the Rescue 115 Irish Coast Guard helicopter from Shannon to remove her from the remote location.
The woman was airlifted for treatment to Kerry University Hospital in Tralee.
