BOND actress Alison Doody is among a group of actors coming to Bantry this weekend to mark the release of a major Belgian thriller shot there.
The movie Broer (Brother) will be released in Belgium on January 20th but Bantry folk will get a sneak preview – as a ‘thank you’ from the production company, Fobic Films.
The movie stars the Irish actress, who appeared in Indiana Jones and the James Bond movie A View to a Kill, among other major films.
After two fantastic months of shooting at the head of beautiful ancient Bantry Bay on several locations, the film is now ready for release.
It tells the story of a Belgian man coming to Ireland to trick his brother’s former lover into believing it is him.
The lover, Grace, (Alison Doody) is extravagantly rich, and lives in a stunning mansion by the sea (Bantry House). The brother and his sidekick aim to entrap Grace and take her wealth but find their scam more difficult than they thought.
It was directed by Geoffrey Enthoven and also stars actors Udo Kier (who has starred with Keanu Reeves, Pamela Anderson and Jim Carrey) and Koen De Bouw, a well-known Belgian actor.
Fobic Films used the beautiful Bantry House as the main location for the thriller and this weekend will see members of both the Belgian and Irish cast back together for the first time since it was finished.
