A CLONAKILTY barbershop owner who wanted more from hair styling products on the market ended up getting his own made much to the delight of his customers.
Owen Crudge, who has been running the trendy Crudge’s Barbershop on Connolly Street for nearly three years told The Southern Star that both he and his customers have always found it hard to find the right product to style hair.
‘I got in contact with a company in the UK to develop my three products. We were back and forth for a while testing out samples, textures and scents,’ said Owen.
‘It was a case of me giving them the direction I wanted to go in and I then settled on the final products, which I’m very happy with and which are suitable for every style.’
Hair conscious West Cork men can now choose from Volume Powder, which gives a matt effect and makes it easier to style the hair; Ocean Salt Spray, which gives that out of the sea natural look and Matt Clay for styling.
Keen to support local businesses, Owen got Clonakilty-based design and branding company, Design Bird, to come up with the colourful branding and packaging.
‘I threw some ideas at Nina Cáit of Design Bird and she took the reins and came up with the finished look, which I’m very happy with,’ added Owen.
‘Not too many barbers have their own styling products and I guess it’s about keeping ahead of the game in this competitive market,’ said Owen.
Owen also stocks a selection of beard oils from The West Cork Beard Company, which is run by Clonakilty fitness instructor Colin Murphy.
