Some of Ireland’s top CEOs will be getting together at a special summit, thanks to a 20- year-old Bantry student.

Executive Summit 2019, the brainchild of Barry O’Sullivan, is set to bring together CEOs and company directors from across the country to speak on subjects ranging from their own careers, the housing crisis and the impact facing companies due to Brexit.

Barry, a former student of Schull Community College, is a studying economics at UCC and told The Southern Star that he saw a perfect opportunity to bring together some of Ireland’s top business leaders.

‘The reason I did this was because I want to create an annual event, which would connect commercial leaders in Ireland, an event which would see global CEOs disseminate their insight, views and ideas to managing directors and executives in Ireland,’ Barry said.

The first ever Executive Summit, which will take place in Dublin this April, will be completely funded by Barry.

‘I am funding Executive Summit 2019 with money made while working as an intern during the summer at Teamwork and part-time work during college,’ Barry said.

Barry is also looking to recruit sponsors for various aspects of the event, which is expected to draw considerable interest from the business community.

Speakers at Executive Summit 2019 will include David McCourt, CEO Granahan McCourt Capital; Daryl Byrne, CEO, Euronext Dublin; John O’Connor, CEO, Housing Agency; Michael Dawson, CEO Leinster Rugby; Pat McCann, CEO Dalata Hotel Group and Michael O’Flynn, CEO O’Flynn Group.

‘I want to connect people with CEOs so that they can discuss issues that are happening in their business and in Ireland. I felt something like this wasn’t being done at this level and I set about to create it. I think an event like Executive Summit has the potential to be a continental gathering of executives and managing directors out of Dublin as opposed to just a national one.’

The half-day event is aiming to connect Irish commercial leaders. It will take place on Friday, April 5th in the Clontarf Castle Hotel, Dublin from 8am to 1pm and places are limited. For more information on the event, log on to www.executivesummit.
