A male pedestrian in his sixties has been killed in a road traffic collision in Durrus near Bantry in the early hours of this Saturday morning, January 30th. Gardaí in Bantry are appealing for witnesses following the fatal collision that took place at approximately 1.55am on the Kilcrohane Road (L4704) west of Durrus village. A 63-year-old male pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a 4x4 vehicle. He was treated at the scene where he was pronounced dead a short time later. His body has since been removed to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem examination and the coroner has been notified. The road was closed on Saturday morning to traffic and local diversions were in place while the scene was being examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
