THE woman who was fatally injured in a single vehicle collision on the evening of Wednesday January 18th last was named last week as Mary Collins of Ballymacrown East, Baltimore.
Units of Skibbereen emergency services, including the fire brigade and ambulance, attended the accident at the Skibbereen to Lough Hyne Road, as did their colleagues from Schull, but the woman, who was in her 70s, died at the scene. The male driver, also in his 70s, was taken to Bantry General Hospital the same night, where he received treatment, but he was released the following morning.
Mary Collins (nee McCarthy) was the beloved wife of Michael and the dear mother of Annette, Theresa and Catherine. She will be sadly missed by her sister Betty (Crowley) of Ardralla, her brother Donal (McCarthy), of Ballydehob, her grandchildren, Dylan, Brian, Megan, Darragh and Hannah, her sons-in-law Tom and Gerard, her nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
