The gloves are off – or on, as the case may be – as we prepare to fight the freeze for another winter season. We are now in all-out cosy mode as the scarves, hats and heavy coats are slowly but surely making their way back into our daily wardrobes.
For a warm but stylish look that translates easily from day to night, you can’t go wrong with matching a thick pair of trusty black tights with your favourite winter dress. Here is the pick of the pairs grabbing my attention right now:
Irish company Marie Claire, are synonymous with providing solutions for us gals in the tights department and their new range is no different. Their So Slim Opaque Tights (RRP €14) are high-waisted opaques which are great for those festive parties as they promise to shape your body and create the perfect hourglass silhouette – a necessity when you have the perfect party dress to show off!
Those looking for a cosier, everyday look could opt for their Super Warm Opaque Tights (RRP €10). These breathable tights offer superior thermo insulation with anti-bacterial properties, powerful deodorising effects and a sweat-free sensation, for maximum comfort all day long. Ideal for those icy-cold winter days when staying warm is top of the agenda.
For those of you not keen on the feeling of being closed in from waist to toe (I raise my hand), a great way to incorporate tights into your look without feeling too confined is by opting for footless tights. The Ultra Comfort Santoni Leggings with Secret Slimming from M&S (RRP €20) are body-shaping leggings that have the appearance of regular tights but without the enclosed foot. These also come in three shades so can be mixed and matched with a variety of looks.
Coming in at just under €20, Scholl’s Light Legs Compression Tights (RRP €19.99) are more of a splurge than a steal, but like anything you wear time and time again, it’s worth investing that little bit extra. The 60 denier tights offer great coverage, while shaping legs and boosting circulation.
They also have a very appealing selling point, in that they claim to last for up to 100 washes without losing shape or colour. Now that’s bang for your buck. I’m a huge fan of Scholl products in general, from their insoles to those all-important Party Feet, so I’ll be adding these to the ‘staples’ section of my winter wardrobe!
The Marie Claire tights range is available from retailers nationwide. Scholl Light Legs Compression Tights are available from select pharmacies nationwide.
