IFA president Francie Gorman hailed the work of Carrigaline IFA as the organisation held a special 70th anniversary celebration at the weekend.
The Carrigaline branch of the then NFA was formed back in 1955, in the old Station House on Station Road. On Saturday night, Mr Gorman joined members gathered in the Carrigaline Court Hotel to celebrate this special milestone.
Nationally, the IFA is celebrating its formation on January 6th,1955 and EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Christophe Hansen will attend and address its organisation’s 70th annual general meeting.
The AGM in the Irish Farm Centre will take place over two days on January 22nd and 23rd with the Commissioner addressing the event on Thursday the 23rd.
IFA President Francie Gorman said he looked forward to Mr Hansen’s first visit to Ireland since he was confirmed as Commissioner for Agriculture and Food in December.
‘IFA will use the AGM as an opportunity to raise our issues with the Commissioner and make the case for a CAP that will work for Irish farming,’ Mr Gorman said.
