THE couple who ran Pilgrim’s restaurant in Rosscarbery have confirmed that they are moving further west to set up a shop/ café in Leap.
Mark Jennings and Sarah Pearce have purchased a former bric a brac store in the village, which they hope to transform into a shop/deli and day time café. They plan to have a country market retail store on the upper ground floor and a café at the lower ground level. Posting online Mark said they are ‘overjoyed’ to be coming to Leap.
‘Built in 1950 by the Harrington family, this shop has had many faces. Now it’s our turn to give it a whirl. With sustainability, locality, produce and a bit of creative cooking at the forefront of our plans, we hope to run a local shop/ deli and day time café.’
He added that while their previous ventures indulged in night time dining, they will now ‘dance the day jig’ as their children are small. The couple are aiming to be up and running by next summer.
They closed the much-loved, and Michelin Guide mentioned, Pilgrim’s Restaurant in January of last year after eight years in business but hinted that plans were being made for the next chapter.
