SUMMERTIME Ahakista resident Graham Norton will be back ‘home’ this weekend, in time to host the annual Quiz Night at the local village festival.
BBC presenter Graham will MC his fourth Quiz Night in Ahakista this Friday at 8pm for the ticket-only event, which is a major fundraiser for the local community association.
Tickets went on sale on the Saturday of the June Bank Holiday when people began queueing for the coveted ‘Golden Tickets’ at 4.30am. Many people had travelled from overseas and the tickets were once again sold out in minutes, leaving many people disappointed.
The monies raised from this weekend’s event will go towards the ongoing development of amenities on the Ahakista Community Association site which is a focal point in the community where all local groups such as Foroige, the Sea Scouts, the Ahakista Rowing Club, GAA and many more have a safe, suitable venue to hold their activities and meetings.
This year the top prize in the quiz raffle is two tickets to attend the Graham Norton Show in London, with a meet ‘n’ greet in the Green Room afterwards where the winner will get to rub shoulders with Graham and whatever celebrity guests are appearing on the night.
The quiz is just one event during the busy festival which also includes road bowling on Saturday evening and live music by the water’s edge in both of the local bars (Arundel’s and the Tin Pub) on Saturday night.
Sunday will see a fantastic day out for all the family with water activities on what is locally known as the sandy beach rather than the pier this year.
There will also be games for all ages, bouncy castles & BBQ in the gardens of The Tin Pub.
See Ahakista Festival on Facebook or email [email protected] for more, but take note – the quiz is a total sell-out.
