CASTLETOWNBERE Coast Guard was called out at 2.30pm on Easter Sunday afternoon after a man slipped and injured his leg while descending a hill at Billeragh, near the Dursey Cable Car.
There were 102 people taking part in an organised walk and it was as they were making their final descent that one of them, a middle-aged man, slipped and injured his leg.
A team of eight Castletownbere Coast Guard volunteers climbed the hill and recovered the casualty. The crew assisted two ambulance paramedics in treating the casualty, who was put into a mattress splint for his ease and comfort. He was stretchered down the hill to an awaiting ambulance and transferred to Cork University Hospital.
